Field Hockey Drops Non-Conference Game To Mansfield

Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Field Hockey team went on the road for a non-conference game against Mansfield, the Lakers fell 5-0 to the Mounties.

How It Happened

Mansfield opened the scoring just under three minutes into the game to take the early lead. Just over two minutes later they doubled their lead to make it 2-0.

After the first quarter Mansfield led 2-0 and outshot the Lakers 11-0. Kayla Desormeau turned away four shots in the opening 15 minutes.

The second quarter was even as both team notched four shots, one Lakers shot found the goal but it was turned away. Desormeau turned away three shots in the period.

After halftime, the Mounties went on the attack again and register 15 shots. Two shots found the back of the cage in the quarter while 12 shots were turned away.

95 seconds into the fourth quarter, Mansfield scored their fifth goal of the game. The Lakers outshot the Mounties in the fourth quarter but could not beat the keeper.

By The Numbers

Desormeau made 19 saves while Jen Kemp had a defensive save in the game as well. The Lakers drew seven penalty corners while Mansfield drew 12 of them. Six different Lakers tallied shots while Delfina Magro and Kemp each had two on the day.

The Lakers are back in action Saturday as they host No. 7 Converse for senior day at Saxon Stadium.
