Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Women's Golf team competed for the third day in a row on Sunday afternoon in the first round of the Michael Corbett Fall Classic hosted by Gannon. The Lakers score of 327 has them in fifth place out of eleven teams, 20 shots behind first place Franklin Pierce.
Lauren Dearment paced the Lakers in the opening round with a score of 78. The junior came out of the gates hot playing her first five holes at two-under before giving some shots back in the middle part of the round. Dearment's birdies came on the 15
th and 17
th holes and her even-par 36 on the back nine puts her in eighth place individually.
Alyssa Ballaro also finds herself in the top ten after day one at T-9 with a score of 79. The sophomore led Mercyhurst in birdies on the day with three as she played the par fives to the tune of three-under.
Isabella Walter's round featured 11 pars on her way to an 83. That score puts her in a tie for a 24
th on the opening day.
Kymberly Henry rounded out the Lakers scoring with 87.
Sofia Carrizosa was the fifth Laker in the lineup shooting 88.
Hannah Mensch posted a score of 85 as an individual highlighted by a birdie on the fourth hole. She is tied for 27
th.
Lena Jones, also playing as an individual, posted 88.
The Lakers will begin the second round tomorrow at 8:30a.m..
