Field Hockey Falls to IUP In Non-Conference Action

Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Field Hockey dropped their first home game of the season as they fell to No. 8 IUP 3-0.

How it Happened

The Crimson Hawks opened the scoring just under nine minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Neither team netted another goal in the opening frame. IUP had three shots in the frame with Kayla Desormeau making one save in the first quarter.

In the second the Lakers tallied their first shot but it was turned away by the IUP keeper. Just over five minutes into the quarter, IUP doubled their lead to make it 2-0.

With less than four minutes remaining in the half IUP made their lead on a cross to the front of the net after a scramble to side of the net.

The third quarter consisted of just two shots on goal, both from IUP. In the fourth quarter IUP tallied just one shot and it was turned away.
