New York, N.Y.—The Mercyhurst Men's Rowing teams traveled to the Big Apple to compete in the National Collegiate Lightweight Invitational.
Mercyhurst first took the walker for a singles race as they took on Georgetown and Delaware, the Lakers took third and were just five seconds back of the second boat.
In their second race of the day, the lightweight fours took second place against Columbia and Harvard. Columbia crossed with a time of 7:23.058 while the Lakers crossed with a time of 7:32.318 which was just under 18 seconds ahead of Harvard.
The heavyweight Mercyhurst fours boat took the win in the next race against FIT, Harvard, and Cal. The Lakers won by four seconds over FIT while defeating Harvard by 12 seconds and Cal by 43 seconds.
In the second singles race the Lakers fell to Princeton while beating MIT by nine seconds.
Just two races later the Lakers defeated Harvard in a fours race with a time of 7:17.374, the Crimson turned in a time of 7:41.045.
The Lakers took on Harvard one final time in their final race of the day. In men's fours the Lakers beat the Crimson by just under 19 seconds with a time of 7:22.555 to close out their day.
All three Laker rowing teams are back in action next weekend in the Knecht Cup in Cherry Hill, NJ.
