Indiana, Pa. - The Lakers hit the road Tuesday night with them making the two and half hour trip to face the Crimson Hawks. Mercyhurst was unable to get the job done in enemy territory as they fell 3-0 to move to 2-9 on the year.
How it Happened
IUP did not waste a lot of time building their lead with them scoring eight minutes and change into the game. The Crimson Hawks patiently passed the ball up along the field before Jess Davidson found a seam and fired the opening salvo, giving IUP a 1-0 lead.
The Crimson Hawks added on in the second period of the game with their second score to help add some insurance. It was once again Jess Davidson doing it for the fifth-ranked Crimson Hawks getting the job done, putting it in the back of the cage. Rory Cahill then added her second goal of the year, giving IUP a three-goal lead before finishing the game at that score.
By the Numbers
IUP led the Lakers in shots with the Crimson Hawks having 21 while Mercyhurst mustered two with Maddie Huffer and Fenna Klok both eyeing the goal. IUP also led the way in corners with a dozen to Mercyhurst's zero. The Lakers did lead in saves with Kayla Desormeau adding to her season total with 13 in the game. Desormeau now has 102 saves on the year with a save percentage of 81%. Her triple-digit saves are near the top in all of Division II, coming in second behind Ana Carney of Lincoln Memorial with 105
