Fast Five: Volleyball Host Clarion, Travels to Seton Hill For Weekend Matches

Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Volleyball team continues conference play as they host Clarion on Friday and travel to Seton Hill on Saturday for an afternoon match. Coming off their first PSAC West win the Lakers look to split the season series between with Clarion and Seton Hill.

1. Stay Hot
After earning their first conference win and improving to 3-14 overall, the Lakers look to build some momentum as they head into the homestretch of the season. In their win over UPJ, the Lakers posted a .179 attacking percentage recording 41 kills on 134 attempts. The team had an exceptional day behind the back line as they served 13 aces in the comeback victory.

2. Sensational Schnars
Kylie Schnars had an exceptional day in the Lakers win against the Mountain Cats posting a hitting percentage of .333. The junior from Panama, N.Y. posted 18 kills with only four errors on 42 attempts. In conference play, Schnars has recorded 56 kills in 25 sets played.

3. Formidable Opponent
Clarion is the only team to remain unbeaten in the PSAC West. Last weekend, the Golden Eagles defeated Gannon to set themselves atop the conference. On their way to the top, Clarion has posted the most kills among PSAC teams averaging 14.45 per set. The Lakers need to find ways to shut down the Clarion offense that has been stellar all season.

4. Winding Down
Both matches this weekend will serve as the series finale for Mercyhurst against Clarion and Seton Hill. The Lakers have dropped the previous two matches against Clarion in consecutive sets. This is the first time the Lakers see the Golden Eagles at home as the two teams went head-to-head at the Wildcat Den Classic at Daemen University and then at Clarion in a match to start conference play.

Seton Hill came to the MAC in mid-September and defeated the Lakers in straight sets as well. The Griffins held the Lakers to just 22 kills on 106 attempts.

5.  What's Next?
The Lakers will host Edinboro on Tuesday and then go on the road to face cross-town rival Gannon on Friday Oct. 21.
