Women's Bowling Doesn't Slow Down

Erie, Pa – Mercyhurst Women's Bowling travels to Struther, Oh. to take part in MOTIV Penguin Classic hosted by Youngstown State this weekend. The Lakers are scheduled to start the MOTIV Penguin Classic on Friday, October 14th with a game against sixth-ranked Arkansas State. They are set to face seven of the top 25 teams in the NCAA rankings in the field as this will be the strongest strength of schedule the program has ever faced.

One of the teams the Lakers are scheduled to play this weekend is number 13th ranked Duquesne. During the Mercyhurst Invitational last week, they defeated the Dukes three times with one of those wins coming in the championship match where the Lakers won by a score of 4-2.

Samantha Strebel led the charge for the Lakers with 211 pins per game, followed by Haley Youker with 204. Strebel received PPG's Athlete of the Week award for her outstanding performance in the bowling alley while Youker knocked down a game-winning pin in the championship match against Duquesne.

The Lakers are scheduled to travel to Fairview Heights, IL on Friday, October 21st to participate in Bearcat Open. They will follow that with Medaille Brunswick Invitational on Saturday, November 5th.
