SHIPPENSBURG, Pa – The Mercyhurst wrestling team was back on the mats Saturday at the Shippensburg Duals hosted by Shippensburg University. The Lakers went a perfect 3-0 on the day as they face
In their opening match of the day, the Lakers did something that they haven't done in over three years, and that was shut out an opponent as they went on to defeat the host Raiders by a 46-0 margin.
The Laker matmen won all seven bouts that were not forfeited, they tacked on an additional 18 points due to three Shippensburg forfeits.
Jacob Robb, and Mike Clark each won their respective bouts via fall, Robb pinning his opponent three minutes into his bout while Clark pinned his opponent four minutes and 24 seconds into his opening bout of the day.
Jacob Ruggeri had the only other bonus point win for Mercyhurst as he was able to secure a 17-4 major decision against his opponent at 125.

Alexis Soriano, and
Brent Burbules all picked up decision wins to help secure the shutout.
The Lakers would dominate again in their second dual of the day defeating Belmont Abbey by a score of 30-14. Mercyhurst collected the first five bouts of the dual highlighted by pins from Ruggeri at 125 and
Max Stedeford at 165. Bartos and Soriano each posted bonus point wins and freshman
Mike Zacur notched a tough 4-3 decision victory at 157. Belmont Abbey would challenge the Lakers, winning the next two bouts, however Burbules and Robb were able to close out the Crusaders with decision wins at 184 and heavyweight.
The Lakers closed out their day in Shippensburg with an unblemished record as they went on to defeat Millersville 25-9 in the final dual of the day. Bartos, Soriano, Zacur, and Stedeford all went undefeated on the day as the four picked up decision wins against the Marauders. Walker chipped in with a decision of his own at 174 and
Hunter Harnish won by major decision at 197. Robb would also finish the day a perfect 3-0 in his bouts, closing it out with his second pin of the day over Millersville's Bishop McCoy.
