No. 19 Wrestling on the Road for the Shippensburg Duals

 

ERIE, Pa – The nineteenth ranked Mercyhurst wrestling team returns to the mat Saturday when they travel to Shippensburg University to square off with four different opponents at the Shippensburg Duals. 

Mercyhurst (6-5) will take on Shippensburg (2-7), Belmont Abbey (6-2), and Millersville (4-3) during the all-day event inside of Shippensburg's Heiges Fieldhouse. The Lakers will begin the day against Shippensburg at 10:00 a.m. before grappling with Belmont Abbey at noon before rounding out the day vs Millersville at 2 o'clock.

Last Time Out

Mercyhurst concluded their busy week of competition last Sunday by easily defeating the visiting East Stroudsburg Warriors by a 32-10 margin inside of the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The Lakers won eight of ten bouts over the Warriors including two victories by forfeit. Dillon Walker continued his impressive freshman campaign as he rolled through Sczar Cahrles earning a 15-4 major decision at 174. Brent Burbules closed out the action when he produced a 9-4 decision victory over Josh Leidig.

Scouting Shippensburg 

The Raiders will begin Saturday with a 2-7 record in dual meets this season. They have posted wins over Division III Waynesburg and King's University, and most recently fell to No. 13 Pitt Johnstown, 44-3.

Scouting Belmont Abbey

Belmont Abbey holds the best dual meet record of the quartet of opponents the Lakers have on deck. Their only dual against a PSAC opponent came on November 13th against Seton, who the Lakers have already beaten this year, Seton Hill won that dual by a 31-10 margin.

Scouting Millersville

Millersville enters the duals with a 4-3 record on the season, most recently they dropped a 9-35 decision against No. 11 Kutztown. The Marauders lone PSAC win came against host Shippensburg back on December 5th.
