EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst football team will play their first road game of the season on Saturday with a 1:05 p.m. kickoff at East Stroudsburg.
Behind Enemy LinesÂ
This matchup features two of the premier pass rushers in the PSAC and the country. The Lakers'
Bradley Burrows ranks fourth in the country with 2.0 sacks per game which ranks second in the PSAC. The Warriors' DeShawn McCarthy is the only PSAC pash rusher with more averaging 2.25 sacks per contest. Both players were named PSAC Defensive Player of the Week in Week One for their respective divsions.
Getting Off the FieldÂ
Mercyhurst has been stingy defensively on third downs holding opponents to just 3-of-19. The Lakers rank fourth nationally.
Kicking it into GearÂ
Brian Alsobrooks has had a strong start kciking the football this season. He is 4-for-4 on field goals and ranks seventh in field goals per game. He averaged 41.6 yards per punt against West Chester and ranks 14th in Division II.Â
Spreading the BallÂ
Michael Lowery completed passes to 10 different receivers over the course of the first two games.
Rylan Davison leads the Lakers with 11 catches for 119 yards.
Sean Banas and
Jason Armstrong are tied for the team lead in touchdowns with one each.
Holding on to the BallÂ
Mercyhurst ranks in the top five in the country in time of possession. The Lakers average 38:03 of possession time per game aided by a dominant performance in Week One in which they held the ball for over 43 minutes.
Schaetzle's Final SeasonÂ
Marty Schaetzle announced that he would retire at the end of the season. In his 20th season, Schaetzle has led the Lakers in two conferences and one PSAC title. Assistant Head Coach

The Series
The Lakers lead the all-time series 3-1 and are 2-0 on the road. Mercyhurst won the last meeting between these two teams 25-20 on Sept. 16, 2017.Â
Scouting the WarriorsÂ
The Warriors are 1-1 and coming off a 22-7 loss to No. 8 Slippery Rock on the road. Jake Cirillo leads the offense going 24-of-44 for 314 yards and three touchdowns in two starts. Clifford Brinkley is his favorite target with eight catches for 121 yards. Gunner Anglovich has 43 rushes for 216 yards and a touchdown. Paul Carreras leads East Stroudsburg with 12 tackles, 10 solo, and one tackle for loss. Shaver Husset has also reach double figure tackles with 10.
