Erie, PA—After competing in their first races in over 500 days on April 10th, the Mercyhurst Women's Rowing team will be back in the water to take on RIT at home before traveling to Lewisburg, PA on Sunday to take on Jefferson.
On April 10th, the Lakers traveled to Buffalo to take on Canisius and Ithaca, the Lakers were very successful as both the Varsity Eight and Varsity Four were able to come across the line first.
The team of Gabrielle Christello, Olivia Avery, Anna Majek, Elizabeth Northrup, Grace Skapura, Emma Lassig, Ann Kathrin Mueller, Henley Spracklen, and Megan Kilmartin was able to place second in the first race and were able to come across the line under two seconds after Ithaca. In the second race, Mercyhurst was able to get their first victory of the season as they beat both Canisius and Ithaca with a time of 7:03.2 which was the best overall time from all three teams.
Mercyhurst and Ithaca split the two fours races as the team of Teagan Spracklen, Erin Jackson, Natalie Peddell, Autumn Kearny, and Rebecca Parks was able to win the first race with a time of 8:12.1 while beating Ithaca by over nine seconds. The team of Mackenzie Kiker, Jackson, Kearny, Audrey Smithm and Parks was able to cross the line with a time of 8:36.6.
Scouting RIT
The Tigers last competed on April 10th when they headed to Hamilton to take on Hamilton and William Smith. This will be last regatta before the Tigers head to Liberty League Championships in Saratoga Springs, NY.. RIT last came to Erie to take on Mercyhurst on April 2nd, 2017.
Scouting Jefferson
The Rams last raced on April 17th when they competed in the Kerr Cup Regatta in Philadelphia against Villanova, Temple, Drexel, Penn, and Washington College. This will be the last last time the Rams will be water until the Dad Vail Regatta on May 7th and 8th.
