BUFFALO - The Mercyhurst field hockey team finished up a unique 2021 spring schedule with a contest against someone completely new in the University of Rochester on Sunday afternoon at The Nichols School. Unfortunately, for the Lakers they came up on the short end of a 2-0 decision.
Mercyhurst was under pressure most of the afternoon as Rochester held a significant edge in shots outshooting the Green and Blue 18-1. UR also had nine penalty corners, while allowing the Lakers just two in the attacking end.
Alexandria Shumsky recorded the lone shot for Mercyhurst in the game.
First year head coach
Brittney Randolph will now take what she has seen from her side in the spring and look forward to the fall and the actual 2021 season.
