WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's tennis team scored a 5-2 victory over host West Chester Saturday afternoon. 

The Lakers trailed 1-0 after doubles action, but Valentine Budin and Janice Theodora won their eighth straight doubles match playing number three this time by a score of 7-6. 

Mercyhurst defaulted at number six singles, but swept the other five matches to claim the victory.  

Ivona Plecevic tallied a 6-3, 6-4 victory at number one singles. Athina Tsagkaraki followed up with a 6-2, 6-0 win at number two. 

Budin came in with a 6-1, 6-1 decision at number three for her seventh straight singles victory. 

Alana Lewis tallied a 7-6, 6-3 victory at number four and Theodora closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at number five. 

The Lakers are back in action on Friday when they host Edinboro at the Westwood Racquet Club at 3 p.m.
