WALTHAM, MA—Mercyhurst Men's Hockey fell to Bentley 3-1 after falling to the Falcons 4-3 on Friday night.
The first period was full of back and forth play, neither team could solve each other. The Lakers had seven saves in the period while Kyle McClellan 13 saves on 13 shots.
Bentley struck early in the second period to make it 1-0 and then once again at the 9:56 mark of the period to make it 2-0.
Mercyhurst knew they couldn't go into the third down two. At the 14:08 mark Jonathan Bendorf took the pass from Steven Ipri on an odd-man rush. Bendorf beat the goalie over his right shoulder, Gueorgui Feduolov picked up his first assist of the season and third point of the season.
The Lakers went to the room down one despite outshooting the Falcons 13-10 in the middle frame.
The final 20 minutes of the game consisted of the Lakers having a lot of chances but not being able to put the puck in the net.
Bentley scored a short-handed goal at the 17:58 mark of the third period to make it a 3-1 game.
McClellan made 25 saves as the Lakers outshot the Falcons 36-28 in the game.
Carson Briere, Dante Sheriff, Rylee St. Onge, and Bendorf each had four shots. Mercyhurst had eight blocked shots with Wyatt Head having two.
The Lakers were 0-4 on the power play while they killed off their lone penalty.
Mercyhurst plays their final home game of 2021 on Dec. 12 as they host Miami (OH).
