Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. –
Liliane Perreault scored twice as the Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team took down Penn State 4-1 during the Semifinals of the College Hockey America Tournament on Friday.
Mercyhurst will play in the CHA Championship game on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. The Lakers opponent is to be determined as Robert Morris and Syracuse play Friday at 4:00 p.m.
Sarah Nelles and
Alexa Vasko scored the other Laker goals.
Jordan Mortlock had two assists while
Emma Nuutinen,
Megan Korzack,
Emily Pinto and
Maggie Knott had single assists for Mercyhurst (20-10-5).
Amy Dobson scored for Penn State (13-15-8).
Two minutes and 23 seconds into the first period, Nelles scored off of her own rebound to put the Lakers up 1-0. Nuutinen and Mortlock had assists on the goal.
With the assist, Nuutinen recorded her 100th career point.
Perreault then picked up the loose puck, skated it towards the net and put it past Penn State goalie Chantal Burke to make it 2-0 Lakers. Knott had an assist.
During the second period, Vasko ripped a one-timer from Mortlock on the power play to make it 3-0. Korzack also had an assist.
Penn State scored late in the second period to cut the Lakers lead to 3-1.
During the third period, Pinto wrapped the puck around the net to find Perreault wide open for her second of the game and to make it 4-1.
The Lakers were 1-for-4 on the power play while the Nittany Lions were 0-for-1.
Kennedy Blair made 18 saves in net for Mercyhurst while Chantal Burke made 36 save for Penn State.
