DOUGLASVILLE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's bowling team came in sixth place at the Bowling for the Cure tournament hosted by Molloy College this past weekend.
During the weekend, Mercyhurst picked up highest game in program history of 981.
Haley Youker came in fifth place with 1,037 pins for a 207.40 average. New comer Anika Akin was next with 923 for a 184.60 average and 22nd place.
Samantha Schurr had a 30th place finish with a 169.80 average.
Samantha Strebel had a 158.80 average good for 34th place while
Andrea Fracassi finished 44th with a 128.20 average.
Youker was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament and named to the All-Tournament team.
On Saturday, the Lakers went 1-4 in the five traditional matches. The Lakers defeated Felician 963-841 for a program high, before earning a new program high the next day with a 983-981 loss to Molloy. On Sunday the Lakers went 0-5 with a 180.5 average and 4,512 total pins.
Mercyhurst returns to action on Feb. 16 when it travels to the Third Annual Br. Patrick Lacey Memorial Tournament.
