ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst University Athletic Department is partnering with the Second Harvest Food Bank for the Hurst vs Hunger Food Drive from Nov. 2-16.
The Lakers will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items in the collection bins in Lower Baldwin, the Rec Center, Hirt, Zurn, Old Main and the entrance to the Athletic Training Facility.
Monetary donations are also being accepted by visiting
https://mhur.st/hunger. The Mercyhurst athletic teams will be competing to raise the most money for Second Harvest and encourage their family, friends, and alumni to assist them.
Mercyhurst Athletics is committed to living out the University's mission to exercise leadership in service toward a just world and the Mercy tradition of compassionate hospitality by focusing on one of humanity's most basic unmet needs - feeding the hungry.
Due to the CoVID-19 pandemic, it is projected that over 27% of Erie City residents are experiencing food insecurity. Every $1 donated helps the Second Harvest Food Bank provide six meals or $17 worth of food to those in need.
