ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst University football team kicks off the 2019 season under the lights when they host Lake Erie College at 7 p.m. at Saxon Stadium.

The Lakers return a wealth of experience with 15 starters returning from the 2018 squad. Mercyhurst finished the season 5-6, but closed out the season with three straight wins. 

Offensively, the Lakers return their quarterback Doug Altavilla as well as leading rusher Garrett Owens and top receiver Austin Hence. 

On the defensive side, Mercyhurst returns the top two tacklers from a year ago in seniors Jake Tarasovitch and Corbin Kessler. 

Lake Erie is under the direction of first year head coach Reilly Murphy. The Storm returns a mix of experience and youth as they look to improve in 2019. 

The 7 p.m. kick off will be the first Laker contest under the lights at the newly renovated and newly named Saxon Stadium.
