MORGANTOWN, W. Va. -- The Mercyhurst men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 non-conference contest to Bluefield State in its last regular-season match on Saturday. The matchup was between the top two ranked teams in the Atlantic Region: MU (No. 1); BSU (No. 2).
DOUBLES
- Bluefield State won 2 of 3 doubles contests to take a 1-0 lead through pairs action.
- Cormac McCooey and Unai Amilleta Gonzalez had the Lakers' lone doubles win, winning, 7-5, over Luke Busse and Arthur Figuriere at No. 1.
SINGLES
- BSU won 5 of 6 singles matches.
- Ruairidh Fraser was MU's singles winner. He defeated Figuriere, 0-6, 6-2, 6-4.
NEXT UP
- The Lakers (15-3, 5-0) are set for a semifinal matchup with four-seed Bloomsburg (8-6, 2-3) in the PSAC Tournament, which will start on Friday, May 3. The other semifinal involves two-seed Edinboro (14-5, 4-1) and three-seed Millersville (7-8, 3-2). The finals will follow on Saturday, May 4.
