ERIE, Pa. -- The 29th-ranked Mercyhurst men's tennis team defeated West Chester, 7-0, in PSAC action on Saturday at the Westwood Racquet Club.

The Lakers won each match on the day -- three in doubles competition and six in singles.

The No. 7 ranked doubles team in NCAA Division II, Cormac McCooey and Unai Amilleta Gonzalez, got Mercyhurst started with a 6-1 win at No. 1 singles over Chris Succi and Noah DeCampo before Arseniy Sklyarov and Ruairidh Fraser finished off their 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles against Adam Courtemache and Devin Paulison.

Sebastian Pardo and Felix Schmedding added a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles versus Gavin Kenny and Brett Spano.

Amilleta Gonzalez picked up MU's first win in singles play, taking a 6-0, 6-0, victory over Courtemanche in the No. 3 match. Fraser then followed with a 6-0, 6-0, win, as well, against Paulison at No. 2.

Sklyarov clinched the match for the Lakers at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-0, win against Kenny.

Pardo (No. 4), McCooey (No. 1) and Roy Yaron (No. 6) then followed, in order, with singles wins over Kenny, 6-1, 6-0; Succi, 6-0, 6-2; and DeCampo, 6-1, 6-0; respectively.

Mercyhurst (9-2, 1-0) will play again Sunday when it hosts Millersville for a 1:30 p.m. match.
