ERIE, Pa. -- The 13th-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team rolled to a 26-8 victory over Davis and Elkins in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Sunday at Tullio Field.
Caleb Kueber led Mercyhurst's goalscorers with five tallies while
Nathan Grenon and
Todd Redman put in three goals apiece.
Jacob Emerson,
Benjamin Smith-Wilcox added two goals each while single goals were registered by
Devin Pipher,
Sam Crusha,
Jarrett Cook,
James Rettinger,
Tommy Angelicola,
Michael Coholan,
Dan Kritkausky,
Timothy McMullen and
Austin Robare.
Pipher made four assists while Emerson and
Nicholas Bartone finished with two apiece. Crusha,
Zach Lorenz,
Nicholas Mabe and
Dom Perna also had assists.
On defense,
Michael Rossi caused three turnovers while Rettinger, Perna and
Haden Bates picked up four groundballs each. Goalie
Hunter Emerson played the first half and made three saves to earn the win.
Jason Pawlak had one save in the third quarter and
Matthew Holowka stopped three shots in the fourth.
Face-off specialist
Ryan Jobson was 17 of 23 with four groundballs in the circle.
For D&E, Matthew Dyck, Nolan Morrison, Jordan Waddell and Matt O'Dwyer had two goals each.
The Lakers (4-2, 1-0) will return to competition on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest at G-MAC opponent Lake Erie.
