PAINESVILLE, Ohio --
Sam Crusha scored four goals as five different Lakers recorded four-point games in the 12th-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team's 15-11 victory over G-MAC opponent Lake Erie on Saturday.
Devin Pipher,
Caleb Kueber and
Dom Perna added two goals and two assists each.
Benjamin Smith-Wilcox added four assists.
Also for the Lakers (5-2, 2-0), Nathan Grenan finished with two goals and one assist while
Nicholas Bartone,
Jarrett Cook and
Dan Kritkausky tallied single goals.
On defense,
James Rettinger had two groundballs and two caused turnovers. Perna and
Tommy Angelicola picked up four GBs apiece.
In goal,
Hunter Emerson made 13 stops.
Lake Erie was led by Matt Cromie's four goals. Goalie Johnny Wilson III had five saves.
The teams traded two-goal runs as LEC led 2-0 and 4-2 before the Lakers evened the score at 2- and 4-all each time.
The Storm (0-6, 0-1) went on another two-goal streak, taking a 6-4 advantage, before the Lakers answered with a 6-0 run -- three goals in the second quarter and three more in the third -- to take the lead for good. Crusha had two goals during that stretch while Perna tacked on one goal and two assists.
Mercyhurst will be in action next on Tuesday when it hosts G-MAC opponent Alderson Broaddus for a 4 p.m. contest at Tullio Field.
