Field Hockey Closes Out 2019 With Trip to Bloomsburg

ERIE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst field hockey will put a bow on their 2019 campaign when they head to Steph Pettit Stadium to square off with the Huskies of Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at high noon.

Scouting the Lakers:
Mercyhurst will come into the game with a mark of 3-16 and 1-8 in conference play.  The Lakers have lost a pair of tight games this week conceding the winning goal in the final two minutes on Monday to Frostburg State and then two days later giving up the overtime winner to IUP with just seven-seconds to go.  Seniors Alexis Skibitsky and Clare Ahern have accounted for most of the team's offense combining for nine of the 13 goals scored on the season  Skibitsky leads the way with six of them.  She also has added one assist for 13 points.  Ahern has racked up seven points thanks to a helper and three goals.  Katie Ballew, Hayley Skidmore, Katie Goodenow, and Jillian Blas have each hit the back of the cage once.  At the other end of the field Abby D'Amato leads the team with three defensive saves, while Leah Rogers, Mia D'Amato, and Ahern each have at least one.  In goal, Libby Jones, Gabriella Amico, and Mikayla Berndt have all seen time in cage.  Amico who made the start on Wednesday at IUP has a .636 save percentage with seven saves.

Scouting the Huskies:
Bloomsburg has a record of 6-11 overall and sit at 3-6 in the PSAC.  The Huskies dropped a 4-3 decision on the road at tenth-ranked Mansfield University on Wednesday afternoon.  In that game Willow Perkins and Kristen Robinson found the back of the net for Bloomsburg.  Foto Tsioles paces the offense with 17 points on eight goals and one assist.  Perkins and Robinson both hae three goals, while Cheyenne Ott, Madilyn McKay, and Emily Alker each have a pair on the season.  Tesa Hoffman joins Ott, Tsioles, and Perkins as players with over 20 shots.  As a team they have recorded eight defensive saves with Hoffman leading the way with three.  Hannah Barnard has made seven starts posting a 1.31 goals against average with 60 saves good for a .845 save percentage.      

Series History:
Since 2008, the Lakers have never defeated the Huskies as Bloomsburg has taken the last 13 straight in the series including a 1-0 win last season in Erie.
