ERIE, Pa. - After a comprehensive 5-2 win over Seton Hill University on Tuesday afternoon to earn their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Confernce victory the Mercyhurst field hockey team returns to action on Saturday afternoon. The task gets no easier however as a date with the number one ranked Golden Rams of West Chester University await.

Scouting the Lakers:
Mercyhurst sits at 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC. They are coming off one of their best performances of the season on Tuesday afternoon defeating Seton Hill. In that game four different Lakers hit the back of the cage with three of the them scoring their first goals of the season.
Alexis Skibitsky netted a pair, while
Hayley Skidmore,
Katie Ballew, and
Jillian Blas each added one. Mercyhurst outshot the Griffins 18-7 (13-4 on goal) and held a sizeable 13-5 advantage in penalty corners. Skibitsky led the way with six shots with Skidmore and Ballew each posting three. Goalie
Libby Jones who has busy a lot this year was only tasked with making two saves on the day.
Gabriella Amico also saw time in cage, but was not required to make a stop.
Scouting the Golden Rams:
West Chester comes in as the top-ranked team in the nation sporting an undefeated mark of 11-0 and 4-0 in conference. Their last game saw them post a convincing 9-0 victory over Molloy College on Thursday. As a team they average 27.6 shots per game scoring over four goals, while holding their opponents to three shots and allowing less than a goal per contest. Katie Thompson leads their attack with 13 goals and nine assists on 63 shots totaling 35 points. Kat Roncoroni and Caitlin Kelly each have eight goals and one game-winner apiece. As a unit they have 12 players that have scored at least one goal. In cage, Claire Nielsen has started all eleven games posting a 0.28 goals against average and an .857 save percentage. Head coach Amy Cohen is in her ninth season at the helm of the Golden Rams.
Series History:
West Chester holds a 10-0 lead in the overall series, including a 3-1 win earlier this season at Saxon Stadium. In that game Kelly and Thompson scored for the visitors, while
Clare Ahern scored off a penalty corner for the Lakers. In goal, Jones recorded 13 saves in the loss.
