ERIE, Pa. -- The 49th-ranked Mercyhurst men's tennis team swept Bloomsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition on Saturday at Pennbriar Athletic Club. The Lakers are also rated third in the Atlantic Region.

The Lakers jumped ahead, winning all three doubles points, before taking six matches in singles play. The victory was clinched with a win by Unai Amilleta Gonzalez (No. 17 Atlantic singles) at No. 4 singles.

The Lakers took the lead with a win at No. 1 doubles as Nenad Terzic and Cormac McCooey claimed an 8-2 decision over Lucas Pedrotti and Nagid Walle.

Arseniy Sklyarov and Luka Veselic followed with an 8-2 win at third doubles against Guillermo Carranza nad Robin Luetzig. Ruairidh Fraser and Amilleta Gonzalez were victorious at No. 2 doubles, 8-3, versus Bernardo Abreu and Rafael Rufato.

Fraser (No. 5 Atlantic singles) won the first singles point at No. 2 over Abreu, 6-0, 6-1, before Amilleta Gonzalez finished the match with his win against Carranza, 6-1, 6-2.

McCooey (No. 11 Atlantic singles), Pardo, Veselic and Terzic followed, in order, with the next four Mercyhurst points.

McCooey defeated Walle, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3; Pardo won against Benjamin Tauber at fifth singles, 6-2, 6-3; Veselic bested Luetzig, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 6 singles; and Terzic outlasted Pedrotti on the top tier, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

Fraser and McCooey stretched individual win streaks to seven wins each. Fraser, McCooey, Terzic and Veselic are all 8-1 in their last nine singles matches while Amilleta Gonzalez and Pardo are 7-1 in their last eight singles matches.

In doubles action, Terzic and McCooey have combined for an 8-1 record in their last nine matches.

The Lakers will return to action on Sunday with a home PSAC match against Kutztown.
