Women's Ice Hockey To Begin Stretch of Non-Conference Action with #7 Cornell

The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team welcomes seventh ranked Cornell to the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Nov. 10-11 for a two-game non-conference weekend series. Puck drops at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. It is also Youth Hockey weekend. 

Last Time Out
The Lakers traveled to Lindenwood, losing 4-1 on Saturday before winning 5-0 on Sunday.
 
Liliane Perreault and Alexane Rhéaume scored their first collegiate goals while Megan Korzack, Vilma Tanskanen and Samantha Fieseler recorded the Lakers other goals. Maggie Knott tallied four assists, Morgan Stacey and Tanskanen added two assists and single assists were credited to Rachel Marmen and Mary Katherine Gialames.
 
Sarah McDonnell made a total of 38 saves on the weekend. She recorded her second shutout of the season and tenth of her career with a 16 save afternoon on Sunday.
 
Previous Matchup
Mercyhurst and Cornell last met during the 2016-17 season when Cornell defeated the Lakers 3-1 and 2-1.
 
Molly Blasen tallied two assists during the series while McDonnell made 20 saves in net for Mercyhurst.
 
Kristin O'Neill scored two goals, Jaime Bourbonnais recorded one goal and one assist and Pippy Gerace had one assist while Marlène Boissonnault made 21 saves in net for Cornell.
 
All-Time Series
Mercyhurst leads the all-time series with a 16-9-3 advantage. Cornell holds a 3-1-1 edge in the last five contests.
 
Scouting Cornell
The Big Red come into the weekend with a 4-1-0, 3-1-0 Eastern College Athletic Conference record.
 
They are coming off of their first loss of the season to Brown University, 4-3.
 
Madelynn Mills, Grace Graham and O'Neill are leading the roster with seven points each. O'Neill leads with five goals while Mills and Graham lead with five assists.
 
In net, Boissonnault has earned a 4-1-0 record with a 2.02 goals against average and .910 save percentage. She has one shutout on the season.
 
O'Neill is ranked second in the nation with three game-winning goals, third in the nation in goals per game with 1.25 and is tied for seventh in the nation in points per game with 1.75 ppg. Graham and Mills are tied for seventh in assists per game with 1.00 and tied for 13th with 1.40 ppg. Kendra Nealey is tied for ninth in the nation with 0.80 points per game as a defenseman.

Cornell is ranked 13th in the nation on the penalty kill going 88.9 percent and 23rd on the power play with 14.3 percent.
 
Laker Facts
Mercyhurst is coming into the weekend with a 6-6-0, 6-2-0 CHA record.
 
Emma Nuutinen is on top of the Laker roster with 11 points. Knott is close behind with nine points and Alexa Vasko, Emily Pinto, Summer-Rae Dobson and Tanskanen have six points each.
 
Between the pipes, McDonnell has earned a 6-2-0 record, 2.11 GAA and .918 save percentage. Kennedy Blair has a 0-3-0 record, 5.01 GAA and .858 save percentage and Leah Klassen has a 0-1-0 record, 4.04 GAA and .897 save percentage.
 
Nuutinen is tied for 20th in the nation with 0.60 goals per game.
 
Mercyhurst is ranked 19th on the power play with 16.1 percent and ranked 28th on the penalty kill going 81.5 percent.
 
CHA Player of the Week
Knott was named the CHA Player of the Week for her efforts against Lindenwood. She tallied four assists and earned a +2 plus/minus rating.
 
Four Nations Cup
Nuutinen was selected to Finland's Four Nations Cup roster. It marks her fifth appearance in the tournament that will be held on Nov. 6-10 in Saskatoon, Sask. Nuutinen scored the lone goal for Team Finland during its 5-1 loss to Team USA.
 
Lakers Firsts
Perreault and Rhéaume scored their first collegiate goals during the Lakers' 5-0 win over Lindenwood on Sunday.
