ERIE, Pa. -- Mercyhurst running back 
Garrett Owens totaled 304 yards and three touchdowns on offense as the Laker football team defeated cross-town rival Gannon, 38-21, in a PSAC West matchup at McConnell Family Stadium on Saturday.
Owens had 21 carries for 268 yards and also recorded three receptions for 36 yards. He also ran back four kickoffs for 115 yards to increase his all-purpose output to 419 yards.
Fellow running back 
Fredrick Green had 11 runs for 92 yards and one TD.
On defense, linebacker 
Corbin Kessler was the leading tackler with 11 stops, including one sack. Linebacker 
Chris Peluso added seven tackles, including two sacks, and defensive back 
Jake Tarasovitch also totaled seven tackles.
The host Golden Knights (2-7, 2-4) took the initial lead, 7-0, before Owens helped the Lakers pull even with his 53-yard TD run in the first quarter.
Laker tight end 
Bryce Mostoller had a 2-yard touchdown reception from quarterback 
Doug Altavilla and Owens had a 4-yard carry to paydirt in the second quarter. A 27-yard field by kicker 
Mark Shafer Jr. gave Mercyhurst a 24-21 advantage on the final play of the first half.
The Lakers broke the game open in the second half, starting with Owens' 74-yard TD run in the third quarter. Green tacked on a 37-yard score in the fourth.
Mercyhurst will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 3, when they host Clarion for a 12 p.m. PSAC West kickoff. Tickets will be available 90 minutes before kickoff.
