Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Oh. -- The Mercyhurst volleyball team defeated Concord in the first day of the Notre Dame (Oh) Invitaitonal on Friday. The Lakers swept Concord 3-0, with scores of 25-13 in set one, 25-22 in set two and 25-21 in set three. 

The Lakers were led by junior Shelby Chesko, who posted 14 kills through the match. Katie Baird added 11 and Alyssa Kling contributed eight. Makyala Molle posted the most assists with 29. Freshman Hannah Vuylsteke had the most digs for the team with 13. 

Mercyhurst broke a 7-7 scoring deadlock to play from the lead the remainder of the first set. Madisyn Jones went on a five-point serving streak to close out the first set. The Lakers broke a 4-4 scoring deadlock to take the lead for the rest of the set. The Lakers led throughout the entirety of the third set to claim their first victory. 

The Lakers will continue the other two two games of the Norte Dame (Oh.) Invitational tomorrow night, with a game at 5:30 pm against West Virginia Wesleyan, and a game against host Norte Dame (Oh.) at 7:30 pm.
