THE GAME
The Mercyhurst football team will play its final home game of the season when third-ranked Indiana (Pa.) visits Tullio Field for a 12 p.m. PSAC West kickoff on Nov. 4.
The Lakers are coming off a 31-21 road loss to California (Pa.). IUP won its last game, defeating Gannon at home, 42-26, to clinch the outright PSAC West championship and claim a spot in the PSAC championship game on Nov. 11.
THE COACHES
Marty Schaetzle (Bucknell '83) is in his 16th season as head coach for Mercyhurst. He owns a 81-93 record. He is a three-time PSAC West Coach of the Year (2008, 2010, 2014) and has coached the Lakers to two PSAC West regular-season championships (2010, 2012) and one PSAC overall title (2010). Prior to coaching at Mercyhurst, Schaetzle has held assistant coach positions at Bucknell, Shippensburg, Northern Arizona, Sonoma State, Arizona and Albany.
Paul Tortorella (Slippery Rock '85) is in his first year as acting head coach for Indiana (Pa.). He has a 9-0 record as a collegiate head coach. Dunn was previously an assistant coach for IUP, as he was defensive coordinator for 22 seasons, including six years as an associate head coach. Tortorella was also an assistant coach for Maryland and Akron.
NEXT UP
The Lakers will play their final game of 2017 season when they visit Lock Haven for a PSAC crossover contest on Saturday, Nov. 11. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
LHU is currently 2-7 overall and 2-4 in the PSAC East. The Bald Eagles will finish up their division schedule with a 12 p.m. contest against East Stroudsburg on Nov. 4.
