Mercyhurst men's soccer players Christopher Makengo and Fjodor van Kippersluis were named to the 2017 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All Atlantic Region Teams announced on Nov. 15.
 
Makengo earned first team honors while van Kippersluis was chosen as a second-team honoree. Both were previously chosen as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) first-team performers on Nov. 7.
 
Makengo, the 2017 PSAC Player of the Year, led the conference in scoring with 12 goals, including four game-winners, and six assists for a total of 30 points in 17 starts. He had the most shot attempts of all PSAC players with 80, 25 more than the next highest in the conference. Makengo record at least one goal or assist in 10 of the 17 games he played. He is the second-straight Laker to be named PSAC Player of the Year and a D2CCA Atlantic Region first-team member after Thom Derks was awarded both in 2016.
 
van Kippersluis was one of the top freshmen in the Atlantic region this season, finishing second in the PSAC with 11 goals, three of which were game-winners. He added six assists for a 28-point total, second in the conference behind Makengo. van Kippersluis began the season as the Lakers' "super-sub", entering off the bench and scoring a goal in five of his first seven games. He is the second-straight Laker freshman to be named to a D2CCA Atlantic All-Region squad, following Jorge Gonzalez's first-team award in 2016.
