Field Hockey Hosts Shippensburg In Final Home Game Of Season

The Mercyhurst field hockey team will host its final game of the season on Saturday when they welcome (#1) Shippensburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action. The Lakers are coming to this contest after falling 1-0 to Seton Hill in a shootout. While Shippensburg enters after a 2-1 victory over (#3) Millersville. The teams will meet for the first time this season, the last time the two programs met in the 2016 season Shippensburg claimed the contest 1-0.
 
The Lakers are led by Nicolette Tomani who has eight goals, and one assist on the season for a total of 17 points. Clare Ahern has 12 points on the season for contributing three goals and six assists, while Bryna Cook has five goals for ten points to round out the top three players. Alexis Skibitsky has contributed three goals this season, while Katie Lechner, Taylor Balser, Hayley Skidmore and Leah Rogers all have produced two goals. 
 
Tomani has had a pair of two goal games throughout the season, she scored two of six goals against Converse College, as well as both goals in a 2-0 victory over Mansfield. Skibitsky and Lechner both have had a single two goal game, each player recorded a pair of goals in Mercyhurst's 6-1 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas. 
 
Victoria Triaga has been the primary goalkeeper for Mercyhurst (7-10, 2-7 PSAC) playing 1,131 minutes in goal amassing a .655 save percentage and a 2.34 goals allowed average.
 
Shippensburg (13-3, 8-1 PSAC) is led by Emily Barnard who has recorded 18 goals and three assists for 39 points. Jazmin Petrantonio has contributed 10 assists and seven goals for 24 points. Mary Spisak is the third Raider who has broken the twenty point threshold with 23 coming from nine goals and five assists.
 
Ally Mooney is the primary goalkeeper for Shippensburg who has played 1,020 minutes in net posting a 1.51 goals allowed average and recording a .768 save percent.
