Box Score ERIE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Women's volleyball team suffered a loss Friday September 23rd against Shippensburg University in their first conference game of the season, dropping their record to (8-4) for the season. Shippensburg (12-1) won three sets in a row with scores of (25-17) in set one, (25-22) in set two, and (25-23) in the third set.

The Lakers had solid offense posting 31 kills between the three games, Shelby Chesko lead the team recording nine. Hannah Tombaugh and Makayla Molle' both recorded 12 assists apiece. While serving the ball Samantha Giardina recorded two aces while Alyssa Zirnheld recorded one. On the defensive side of the ball the Lakers recorded 41 digs as a team Samantha Giardina led the team recording eight. Mercyhurst also posted 14 block assists, lead the blockers Haley Adams and Lauren Kenny both recording four. Despite this display the Lakers were unable to derail the Raiders from victory.

The Lakers volley ball team will play next Saturday September 24th at home against Millersville at 4:05 PM.
