Two Second-Half Goals Put Shippensburg Past Women's Soccer

Box Score SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -  The Mercyhurst women's soccer team lost its second straight game on Saturday, falling 2-0 to Shippensburg on the road.

After scoring two late goals on Wednesday against Edinboro, the Lakers were unable to muster much offense against the Raiders. They were outshot just 13-10, but they had just two shots on goal compared to Shippensburg's ten.

The first half played to a scoreless draw. Shippensburg had four corner kicks and six shots registered. Three of those shots were on goal and Kristen Koch stopped all three. Offensively, Maya Bauer registered the Lakers' lone shot on goal.

In the second half, Shippensburg took the lead at the 56th minute mark. Casey Rightmyer's header was her third of the season and it have the Raiders the go-ahead goal. The goal was assisted by Stephanie Allshouse.

Shippensburg added insurance to their lead in the 66th minute. Kat Harner took a shot on net that was initially saved by Koch. The rebound came back to Harner and she centered to Ashley Weaver who scored her fifth of the season. The Raiders went on to win 2-0.

The Lakers (6-5-1, 5-5-1) look to end their two-game conference skid when they travel to take on California (Pa.) on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 4:30 p.m.
