Box Score ERIE Pa. – The Mercyhurst volleyball team lost to Slippery Rock, in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Friday October 21st. The Lakers lost three hard fought sets with scores of set one (25-22), set two (27-25), and set three (25-22).This loss drops the Lakers record to 11-10 while they stand 3-7 in the PSAC. This win bumps Slippery Rock's record to 9-14 while they move up to 2-8 in the PSAC.
 
Sophomore Shelby Chesko, lead the Lakers in offensive points having eight kills, followed shortly by senior Haley Adams and junior Freda Ireigbe both totaling six kills. Makayla Mollé lead the team in assists with 12 followed by Hannah Tombaugh with eight. Samantha Giardina had the team high in digs totaling 13, followed by Tombaugh and Sarah Puckett each having 10. Sarah Wegrzyn also registered nine digs falling just short of double digits. The Lakers had seven aces through the game Molle had two while, Puckett, Adams, Tombaugh, Alyssa Zirnheld, and Abbey Rose each recorded one.
 
Notable Slippery Rock players were Leah Jones who led her team in kills with 13. Zoe Rivet who had 15 assists throughout the game. Leah Jones had 3 confirmed aces on the game. And Courtney Oberlander had 22 digs for the team.
 
The Lakers are scheduled to play again tomorrow October 22nd, at home against the Fighting Scots of Edinboro at 4 PM.
