MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst University men's tennis team won four of six singles matches and swept all three doubles' contests Wednesday in turning back Allegheny College 7-2. The win opened dual match play this fall. The Gators fell to 0-3.
Freshman
Nenad Terzic continued a stellar start to his rookie season with the Lakers after a 6-4, 6-1 win in singles. Terzic won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) men's singles title last weekend at West Chester.
Mercyhurst also got singles wins from junior
Robert Rizea (6-2, 6-3) and sophomore
Conor McCooey (6-2, 7-5), who both won in straight sets. Meanwhile, sophomore
Ross Molinaro IV (4-6, 6-2, 10-8) needed a third set super tiebreaker to outlast the Gators' Dan Conroy.
The doubles team of junior
Travis Beck and Terzic prevailed 8-5 at #1. McCooey teamed with Rizea to win a tight match 8-7 (7-4) while sophomore
Daniel Gimenez and freshman
