ERIE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst University men's tennis team earned its third straight victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Bloomsburg University 8-1 at the Pennbriar Athletic Club. The Lakers improved to 3-0 in the spring season and 4-2 overall on the year.

The Huskies picked up their only win of the afternoon at #1 doubles when Denis Ikeriji and Mike Disanto knocked off the Lakers' tandem of Travis Beck and Mauricio Canton Diaz by an 8-3 final. However, Mercyhurst responded nicely with back-to-back doubles victories by the teams of Robert Rizea and Daniel Gimenez and Eric Drusko and Ross Molinaro IV to take a 2-1 lead after doubles competition.

The Lakers ran the table in singles action with Beck clinching the Laker win with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Disanto.

Molinaro started singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #5 oer Bloomsburg's Kyle Christy and Drusko followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win before Beck's clinching win. Rizea and Gimenez also earned straight-set victories while Mike Vinopal had to work overtime to defeat the Huskies' Mortada Stitou - 1-6, 7-6 (12-10), 10-2.

Mercyhurst returns to action on Sunday, March 2 when it hosts Kutztown University at the Pennbriar Athletic Club. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
