Volleyball Travels to Findlay for Three Matches This Weekend

Tai Lattimore has 51 assists in four matches this season.
ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team will travel to Findlay (Ohio) to play three matches this weekend. On Friday, September 13, the Lakers face Southern Indiana at 9:30 a.m. and then #25 Rockhurst at 5 p.m. The next day, Mercyhurst takes on Findlay at 7 p.m.

Mercyhurst won three out of four matches the Falcon Fest last weekend. It beat Ursuline, West Liberty, and West Virginia Wesleyan. Rachel Crittle led the way with 26 kills, 22 blocks, and 10 aces in four outings. Last season, the Lakers won 25 matches and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009.
 
Southern Indiana is 2-2 after splitting four contests in Pensacola, Florida, last weekend. It swept Albany State and Wheeling Jesuit and lost to Northern Michigan and Minnesota-Duluth. In 2012, the Screaming Eagles went 16-16.
 
Rockhurst won all four of its matches at the Pittsburg State Classic last weekend and promptly made its first appearance in the Association of Volleyball Coaches of America (AVCA) Top 25 poll since 2007. Last season, the Hawks won 28 matches on its way to a Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
 
Findlay went 3-1 on its trip to Florida last week. The Oilers beat Sioux Falls, Lynn, and Nova Southeastern before falling to Rollins. They posted a 14-17 record in 2012.
