KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Former Mercyhurst outfielder David Lough belted his first major league home run for the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night against the Detroit Tigers.
With the Royals trailing 2-0 entering the bottom of the fifth inning, Lough broke up Max Scherzer's no-hitter with a leadoff home run to put Kansas City on the board.
It was Lough's first career home run at the Major League level in 125 career at bats. With the home run on Tuesday night, Lough became the first player from Mercyhurst to ever hit a home run in the Major Leagues.
The former Laker is batting .288 (20-for-66) with the Royals this season. Lough replaced Jarrod Dyson on the Kansas City roster when Dyson was placed on the disabled list last month.
Lough batted .237 with the Royals in 20 September games last season.
