ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst field hockey team travels to #5 West Chester for the first time in program history on Tuesday, October 29. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest is slated for a 4 p.m. start.

The Lakers are 9-7 overall and 4-4 in the PSAC. They swept three home games last week, moving into a tie for fifth place in the conference standings.
Blair Pembleton recorded a hat trick in a 4-0 victory over Mansfield, becoming the first Laker since 2011 to score three times in one outing. Mercyhurst then cruised to wins over Slippery Rock and Bellarmine over the weekend.

West Chester has an 11-4 overall mark, including a 6-2 league record. The Golden Rams shut out both Kutztown and Mansfield last week, maintaining position as the third seed in the PSAC. Megahn Callanan scored twice and Nancy Stehman dished out three assists in a 5-0 victory over Mansfield October 26.

Pembleton leads Mercyhurst with 11 goals and 24 points in 2013. In the PSAC, she is tied for seventh in goals this year.
Meghan Smith has six goals and seven assists, while
Kelsey Lovelace has scored eight goals. As a team, the Lakers have scored 46 goals-their most in a single season since 2002.

Kelsi Lykens paces the Rams with 11 goals and 11 assists. Her 33 points are the second-most in the PSAC. Callanan has scored 12 goals, while Stef Pirri has six goals and nine helpers. Â

The regular season ends on Saturday, November 2. The Lakers host Bloomsburg at Tullio Field. Entering this week, each team has two remaining games on the schedule. The top six teams will qualify for the PSAC Tournament. Shippensburg, and Millersville have clinched spots in the playoffs. With victories in both matches this week, the Lakers can clinch a tournament berth. They can also secure a bid through several other scenarios to be played out this week.Â
