Men's Soccer Blanked at University of D.C., 1-0

Fernando Martinez had the most shots for the Lakers with four.
Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C.- Mercyhurst University men's soccer dropped to University of D.C.  Friday 1-0.  Sophomore Fernando Martinez led the Lakers with four shots.  The loss drops Mercyhurst to 0-3-0 in the season.
 
The Lakers were outshot seven to four and the Firebirds also dominated corner kicks four to one.  The only goal of the night happened 15 minutes into the second half when sophomore Byron Brown had his first goal of the season, drilling it past Mercyhurst senior goaltender Diego Gustin.  Firebirds senior forward Adriel Garcia and sophomore defender Bakary Coulibaly recorded the assists for the goal.
 
Gustin falls to 0-3-0 on the year for the Lakers allowing one goal and two saves against the Firebirds.  Senior goaltender Omar Gonzalez moves to 3-0-1 making two saves.
 
The Mercyhurst Lakers finish their weekend Sunday, September 9 at Bloomfield.  Start time for the match is at 3 pm.
