Women's Soccer Blanks Lake Erie, 2-0

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Women's soccer shutout Lake Erie College, 2-0, at the Britt Stadium on Tuesday evening.  The Lakers improved their record to 5-7-1 in the season.  Lake Erie College drops to 3-8-1.
 
The first half remained scoreless, with little action from both teams.  The Lakers took seven shots, three on net, compared to The Storm's five, with four on net.
 
59:20 into the second, the Lakers would have a corner kick opportunity to take the lead.  Sophomore Janine Wong crossed a corner into traffic.  Junior Katie Michaelis would have the first touch on the ball, but junior Perrin Kern would finish with a header into the left bottom corner of the goal.  Senior Olivia Resch would seal the lead at 72:30 with an unassisted goal that floated over the goalies head from 35 yards out.
 
The Storm outshot the Lakers throughout the match seven to four, and the Lakers would control the corners seven to four.  Senior Sara Hawksworth and Resch led the Lakers with shots on goal with two. 
 
Junior Brooke Morrison improved to 2-1-1 in net for the Lakers, making four saves and recording her second shutout of the season.  Lake Erie's goaltender Sarah Stroope played the entire 90:00, and made seven saves.
 
The Lakers take the rest of the week to prepare for their last road match of the series against Kutztown University on Saturday, October 13.  The match is set for 1 p.m.
