MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst College men's tennis suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. on Tuesday. The match was shortened due to inclement weather in Crawford County.

Junior co-captain Jorn van der Veer was leading after the first set, 6-4, in his singles match, but could not complete the second set due to rain.

The Lakers have yet to play a full match as a team this fall, with their opening match at Robert Morris also shortened due to rain. Against the Colonials, the Lakers trailed 5-2 when the rains came. Senior captain Keith Whittingham defeated the #1 singles player at Robert Morris 6-4, 6-1 during the opening match of the season.

The Lakers, still looking to complete a full team match, will try again next Friday, September 23, when they take on Penn State Behrend at 3 p.m. The match will be played at Behrend's tennis courts.
