ERIE, Pa. – Sophomore
Brian Scheetz scored two goals and totaled eight points to lead the fourth-ranked Mercyhurst College men's lacrosse team past East Coast Conference opponent Wheeling Jesuit, 16-6, on Sunday afternoon at Tullio Field.
Scheetz tied his career-high for points in a game and set a new high for assists as he took over the team scoring lead (34) and moved within five points of cracking 100 for his career.
Four of his six assists came in the first half, as he set up three goals in a 5-0 first quarter and one in the second, helping MC take a 6-2 lead at the break. He then scored his first goal of the afternoon, the eventual game-winner, to open a 5-2 run in the third before finding the back of the net again as part of a one-goal, one-assist performance in the fourth.
Overall, nine players produced goals for the Lakers as they improved to 8-2 on the season, 6-2 in conference play.

Kevin Coholan netted a game-high four goals while classmate
Trevor Rice and freshman
Brady Heseltine matched his point output, with Rice scoring three times and Heseltine twice.
Juniors

Kyle Kallay, sophomore
Mark Saltrelli and freshmen
Mitch McAvoy and
Brandon Thomson each added one goal apiece. McAvoy also dished out an assist in addition to winning 18 of 23 faceoffs taken.
Mercyhurst outshot Wheeling Jesuit 44-17 for the game and got four saves from senior
Zach Nash, who moved to 8-2 with the win. Two Cardinal netminders combined for 17 saves, with Joe Amsler making 13 after relieving starter Jim LaPenna in the first quarter.
The Lakers take a break from conference play this week when they face top-ranked Limestone on Saturday, Apr. 23, for a neutral-site matchup in Alexandria, Va. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
