MARS HILL, N.C. - The third-ranked Mercyhurst College men's lacrosse team defeated No. 8 Mars Hill 12-6 on Friday afternoon in Mars Hill, N.C. The Lakers, who improve to 2-0 on the season, turned aside a pesky Lions squad and expanded a 7-6 lead with five straight goals to end the game.

Kyle Kallay scored three goals apiece, while senior
Andy Winslow matched their point totals with a goal and two assists.

Zac Reid netted two goals, and juniors

Brad Romancik and sophomore
James Chayka each found the back of net once.
Mercyhurst traded goals in the first quarter, 2-2, before taking a 4-3 advantage into halftime. After the break the Lakers jumped out to a 7-4 lead and ended the frame up 8-6. Four goals in the fourth quarter expanded the score and sealed the win for the visitors.
Senior
Zach Nash moved his record to 2-0 with eight saves as Mars Hill outshot Mercyhurst 33-27 for the game.
Mercyhurst returns to action when it opens East Coast Conference play at Molloy on Mar. 11.
