Men's Lacrosse Earns 11-4 Win Over Lake Erie

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The sixth-ranked Mercyhurst College men's lacrosse team won its fifth game of the season Tuesday evening, defeating Lake Erie College, 11-4, in an East Coast Conference matchup at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium in Painesville, Ohio.

Junior Kyle Kallay, the reigning ECC Player of the Week, led the Lakers (5-1, 3-1 ECC) with four goals. Freshman Brady Heseltine scored twice, while sophomore Zac Reid pocketed two points on a one-goal, one-assist performance. Senior Kevin Coholan, sophomore Brian Scheetz and freshmen Mitch McAvoy and Jake McAndrew added a goal each.

Mercyhurst took care of business early on, jumping out to a 4-1 lead in the first and expanding that advantage to 8-2 in the second. Following the break, the Lakers tacked on the only goal scored in the third before exchanging scores with the Storm in the fourth.

The Lakers controlled the game by having the upper hand in every statistical category. MC outshot LEC 34-14, picked up nine more ground balls (29-20) and won 14 of 18 face-offs taken. Senior Zach Nash played the entire 60 minutes and made seven saves.

Mercyhurst continues conference play on Saturday, Mar. 26 when it faces Seton Hill in Greensburg, Pa.
