ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - Four different players found the back of the net as the second-ranked Mercyhurst College men's lacrosse team defeated Molloy, 6-4, in a low-scoring East Coast Conference matchup Friday evening. With the victory, the Lakers move to 3-0 on the season, 1-0 in ECC play. The Lions, meanwhile, fall to 1-3 overall, 0-1 in league action.

Mercyhurst never trailed in the game but needed a late surge to turn aside the Lions in the second half and stay undefeated on the season.
Tied at three after Molloy opened the third quarter with a score less than five minutes in, the Lakers broke the deadlock and started to take over by scoring back-to-back goals before Scheetz delivered the knockout punch, scoring unassisted with eight minutes to play in the fourth. Molloy closed out the game with a goal just over a minute later.
Mercyhurst maintained possession and controlled the pace of the game with a 40-22 advantage in shots and a 24-23 lead in ground balls. Senior
Zach Nash recorded eight saves to earn the win and move to 3-0 on the season.
The Lakers continue their east coast trip Sunday, Mar. 13 with an ECC contest at Chestnut Hill.
