ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team opens the 2011-12 season Saturday, November 12, hosting Urbana at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.

The Lakers lost an exhibition game, 82-63, at Ohio University November 7. Junior forward Luis Leao was a preseason All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West First Team selection, but he is recovering from an injury and is not expected to play against the Blue Knights. Seniors Bill Weaver and Jamal Turner return for their final season at Hurst.
 
Urbana lost, 70-59, at Eastern Kentucky in an exhibition contest November 2. The Knights are led by Sharif Muhammad, who averaged 10.7 points and 6.8 rebounds a game in 2010-11.
 
Mercyhurst leads the all-time series, 5-1, including a two-game sweep last season.
