Upset Bid Falls Short as No. 1 Bloomsburg Prevails, 1-0

Junior Ashley Wiskup stopped 16 shots against the top-ranked Huskies.
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College field hockey team saw its hopes of an upset fall short as top-ranked Bloomsburg squeaked out a 1-0 win over the Lakers on Saturday afternoon in Bloomsburg, Pa.
Junior Ashley Wiskup tied her career-high for saves in a game with 16 and held the nation's top offense to just a single score, an unassisted strike by Amanda Riley with 18:18 showing on the clock. She originally set the mark in a 5-1 loss to Kutztown last season.

For the game, Bloomsburg outshot Mercyhurst 30-4 and held a 12-3 advantage in penalty corners.
The Lakers, standing at 1-4 on the season, look to bounce back when they face Seton Hill on Wednesday, Sept. 22, in Greensburg, Pa. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
