CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst College women's volleyball team fell at California Friday night by a 3-1 decision.  The Lakers took the first set of the match 25-22 before surrending three straight sets to the Vulcans by a 25-23, 25-16 and 25-10 count.

Mercyhurst moves to 17-7 overall, 8-4 in the PSAC while California improves to 22-4 overall, 13-0 in the PSAC.

Chelsea Jensen led the Lakers with 13 kills while Becky Leusch deposited 11 kills.  Libero Kendal Ashworth picked up 21 digs and Becky Smith helped the defense with four blocks.  Setter Julia Butler added 38 assists.

The Lakers are in action again on Saturday, Oct. 17 when they travel to IUP.
