MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Lakers took the first match of the day in straight sets against Millersville, 25-18, 25-22, 25-17.
Chelsea Jensen and
Gretta Freyermuth led the charge with 10 kills each while
Becky Leusch added eight kills. Butler contributed with 33 assists and libero
Kendall Ashworth picked up 24 digs.
Elyse Texido also helped out the defensive effort with 13 digs while Butler just missed out on double-digits with nine.
Becky Smith led the blocking unit with five while Butler and
Justine Smith also tallied three stops.
The Mercyhurst Lakers continued their success at the PSAC Crossover with a 3 –1 victory over East Stroudsburg, 25-22, 25-19, 17-25, 25-14.
Leusch, led the Lakers offense with 12 kills and Jensen added 11. Leusch and
Becky Smith helped the Laker front-line with 3 blocks apiece, while
Justine Smith and
Erin English both added a pair. Butler tallied 24 assists in the game. Defensively, Jensen led the team with 13 digs and Ashworth contributed with 10. The Lakers improve their record to 17-6 overall and 8-3 in the PSAC.
Mercyhurst returns to action on October 16 at California University at 7:00pm.
